Note: I’m a huge board game fan!

 Hey, I’m Scott!

I aim to spend much of my time creating meaningful game experiences which explore the connection between multiple facets of game design, though I am also quite interested in applying and refining my knowledge of game production. I have held a variety of roles on a number of long-term projects over the last 8 years of experience in the games industry, but my most prominent roles I have held are as Lead Game Designer on No Water in Hell and as a VR Game Designer at McMaster University’s Automotive Department (MARC). Most recently, I joined Piranha Games in 2023 as an Intermediate Level Designer as I continued my career in a more direct role as a level designer rather than game designer.

Apart from what is listed here or on my resume, I enjoy practicing my design skills regularly through game jams, house rules during game nights with friends, and on personal projects in various game engines like Unreal and Unity.

Beyond my professional experience in games, I’m also well studied—I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English and History at the University of Guelph in 2019, and later my Bachelor of Game Design from Sheridan College in 2023. I’ve always been quite fond of games because of the different directions they can take players while sticking to a common goal—addicting music, action-packed levels, captivating stories (and more), which all bind a game under a single agenda while giving different players something to buy into.

Some of my interests include playing and writing game music on piano (I’ve been playing/performing/composing for 22+ years now), building computers, travelling, and cooking. I’ve also worked as a game writer/narrative designer, computer technician, and piano teacher.

Some of my favourite games include Pokemon Emerald, Bastion, Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Borderlands, No Man’s Sky, Command and Conquer 3: Red Alert, and PAYDAY 2.
